BioStakes biodegradable stakes are an eco-friendly alternative to metal staples.
How do BioStakes biodegradable stakes work?
BioStakes are made using 100% recycled plastic resins. They are designed with additives to convert plastic into all natural by-products. Here is how it works:
Phase 1
At this stage the biodegradable stakes are at their prime and have not been compromised (started to biodegrade). They remain in this phase until they are installed, and continue to be in this stage for the first few months after installation.
Phase 2
As the BioStake is exposed to microorganisms in the soil, the stake begins to degrade. It does this as the microorganisms attach themselves to the surface of the plastic and feed off of the plastic itself.
Phase 3
In the final phase, the microbes continue to metabolize the polymer structures of the stakes. This continues until biodegradation is complete.
- Biodegradable
- 4.0″, 20 ribbed stake
- Green
- 6.9 lbs of force to remove (compared to 4 lbs for metal staples)
- Can use fewer BioStakes than metal stakes for same area
- Life expectancy: 18-36 months depending on microbial activity
