Bird Netting

Have questions? Contact us Bird Netting Bird Netting -Cherry Net

Soft Knitted bird netting protects trees, fruit, and vegetables, against birds, and most animals, with a soft, flexible, 3/4″ knitted green polyethylene mesh. Ideal for cherry trees. U.V. stabilizers added for longer life.
Birds can pose a huge problem to crop farmers; especially those in cereal, vegetable and fruits areas. Using bird  netting is an effective way to prevent your crops from being
bird netdamaged or eaten. However, sometimes the main crop isn’t an issue. Birds will feast on the
planted seeds and/or the tender shoots. Other uses include top netting for chicken pens and bird exclusion in commercial buildings. Commercial growers, please check our other Bird Netting types available in our Vineyard Netting section.

Bird Netting Uses

Bird netting is a versatile, useful and relatively inexpensive material, mostly used by crop growers and home gardeners to keep birds away from their trees, vines and other crops. Bird Netting can also be used to keep birds from roosting on and around outdoor structures such as barns, garages and attics. It provides exceptional bird control without resorting to other expensive yet often ineffective deterrents, Bird Netting also repels some insects and other types of pests to varying degrees, when it is properly installed, by acting as a barrier.

Bird Netting can simply be thrown over a tree for an instant canopy guard, or securely fastened around the trunk or to the ground for even better protection. Use it to defend a wide range of bird attracting plants such as strawberries, blueberries and grape vines, or fruit trees such as peaches, plums, nectarines and figs. It can also be installed around a frame to protect the vegetable garden.

Another use of bird netting is that it can create a micro climate within the space that it encompasses. The biodiversity of insects, temperatures, condensation and wind dispersal can all be affected by a micro climate. Bird Netting in particular is able to reflect heat away, which is useful for keeping temperatures cooler. The density of the weave will also have an affect, and its effectiveness will vary between climates.

Other Uses For Bird Netting

In many cases, when used in conjunction with other protective measures, bird netting can also be used to protect against light frost. There is even netting available that provides a couple of degrees of frost protection. This requires a bit of experimenting in getting right, but it is well worth the effort.

Furthermore, heavy duty nets are effective in preventing hail damage to crops. Hail damage can result in massive losses for crop farmers if some kind of protective measure is not put into place. Damage storms and strong winds that often accompany hail is also effectively prevented.

With so many different types and sizes available, bird netting is indispensable for a number of different uses in and around the garden. It can be reused, and moved to where it is most needed. Remember, Bird Netting not only provides a chemical free solution to pest problems, it is a safe, easy to use and effective material that does not harm birds or other wildlife.
