Anti-Hail Netting protects from harsh weather, hail, and sun.
Hail can devastate your crop’s fruit, leaves and buds in minutes, and reduce its production for the next few seasons. Installation of a permanent hail protection system will ensure many years of protection. Added benefits include a light shade to protect against sunburn, reduces wind strength, and aids creating a micro-climate, reducing evaporation. Most effective in a zig-zag cable installation.

For apple varieties, we recommend a soft white shade of 16% for blush varieties, to 25% for Granny Smiths. 12% maximum shade is recommended for cherries. Use in conjunction with our Bright White Reflective Ground Fabric system, this creates a microclimate and “light box” that diffuses light above and below the canopy, greatly increasing even ripening and color while protecting against hail, predation, and water loss through evaporation.
Optional is our Agro-Line 3.5mm Polyester Monofilament installed along the edges, making each panel ready for installation and saving hours of labor to insert heavy, abrasive metal wire. Gripple and other wire installation accessories are widely used for quick installation and adjustments. We offer the Gripple name brand, ensuring high quality materials for high value crops.
To complete your microclimate, we can custom fabricate a Perimeter Windbreak Fence, completing your field-encompassing envelope. In conjunction with shade/hail netting, a well-designed windbreak will deflect wind to the top of the netting and cause it to skip across the field, allowing work such as spraying to be easily accomplished in the calmed environment underneath.
